Smart Serve certificates are now valid for 5 years from date of issue.

If you were issued a certificate prior to Sept. 1st, 2018, your certificate expired on Aug. 31st, 2023.

The Certificate issue and expiry date is displayed on your certificate. If your valid certificate does not show an expiry date, please login to your online account and download a new eCertificate from the “My Results” tab.

Individuals with a current (not-expired) Smart Serve certificate can recertify online for a reduced fee of $29.95 before their certificate expires. Once the certificate expires, the full cost of $44.95 will apply.

To check the status of your certificate

  • Confirm you have access to your Individual Online Account.
  • Login and go to the “My Results” tab to view your eCertificate and check the certificate expiry date.
  • Confirm that your personal account information matches your government issued photo identification.
    If you need to request a legal name change, please click on the ”Change” options in your account profile and follow the instructions.

Smart Serve Recertification : $29.95 CAD

You must have a valid (not-expired) certificate in your online account to qualify for the discounted course fee.

You will be required to purchase and fully complete the training course. Final Tests are completed online only and will be proctored. After successful completion, you will be issued a NEW eCertificate with a 5-year expiry date. (See Full Training Guidelines).

You can access a copy of your eCertificate from the “My Results” tab in your online account. This is your proof of completion (plastic cards are no longer being mailed).
