Cannabis Signs of Use

As of October 17, 2018, recreational cannabis became legalized.

It is important to understand that you are still required to follow the Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 (LLCA), which continues to prohibit the sale or service of alcohol to intoxicated individuals, or those showing signs of intoxication.

This specific module has been incorporated into the Smart Serve Training Program.  All individuals taking the Online Training, Online Recertification or In-Class Group Training course will complete the entire program, which includes this new content.

Here is what the module will cover:

  • How to recognize signs of cannabis intoxication
  • What you might see
  • What you might hear
  • What you might smell
  • Understanding Duty of Care
  • Understanding House Policies
  • Potential effects of consuming alcohol and cannabis at the same time
  • Short Quizzes

It is important to assess your guest/customer when they arrive and during their stay with you. It is your responsibility to understand signs of intoxication, whether it is from alcohol, medications, drugs, or cannabis.
